Center Weather Forecast Units (CWSUs) are joint Federal Aviation Administration/National Weather Service weather support units staffed 16 hours/day by NWS personnel and 24 hours/day by Traffic Management Unit personnel to provide meteorological support to 21 Air Traffic Control facilities within the United States. Here at "Miami Center" our job is to forecast for potentially hazardous weather that may adversely affect the safe flow of air traffic within Miami's airspace [HI Sectors / Low Sectors]. We give all pertinent information to the facility's Traffic Management Unit which works directly with Air Traffic Controllers to move aircraft around threatening weather.
