...WINTRY AND STORMY ENDING TO THE WORK WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND...

WARM AND PLEASANT TEMPERATURES THROUGH WEDNESDAY WILL TURN COLDER
THURSDAY...AND STORMS WILL DEVELOP RAPIDLY ACROSS NEW MEXICO
THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE UPCOMING
WEEKEND.

A COLD FRONT PUSHING SOUTHWARD INTO THE STATE THURSDAY WILL MEET UP
WITH A LARGE EAST PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM THURSDAY NIGHT TO BRING A
WIDE AREA OF SNOW AND RAIN ACROSS MOST ALL OF NEW MEXICO INTO
FRIDAY MORNING. WITH LITTLE CHANGE IN CONDITIONS...RAIN AND SNOW IN
CHILLY CONDITIONS ARE SETTING UP FOR MUCH OF THE WEEKEND. A SECOND
COLD FRONT INVADING FROM THE NORTH LATE ON SATURDAY WILL HELP FORCE
RAIN AND SNOW COVERAGE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE STATE ON
SUNDAY...WITH CONDITIONS IMPROVING AS THE NEXT WORK WEEK GETS
UNDERWAY.

THIS UNUSUAL WINTER EVENT STILL FACES UNCERTAINTIES ON POSITIONS
AND TIMING...BUT BROAD COVERAGE FOR THE LAST OF THE WORK WEEK AND
MUCH OF THE WEEKEND REMAINS THE BASIC THEME FOR NOW. THOSE WITH
TRAVEL OR OUTDOOR PLANS DURING THE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH THE
WEEKEND PERIOD SHOULD STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE LATEST FORECASTS AND
STATEMENTS...AND EXPECT RAIN AND SNOW DURING THE PERIOD. GET THE
LATEST FORECAST INFORMATION FROM WEATHER.GOV/ABQ...NOAA WEATHER

A MOIST AND RELATIVELY WARM WEATHER SYSTEM WILL BRING A MIXTURE OF
RAIN AND SNOW TO SOUTHEAST UTAH AND SOUTHWEST COLORADO FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY. IN THE HIGH COUNTRY...THIS WILL MEAN SNOW WITH POSSIBLE
SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS.

REGARDING THE SNOW LEVEL...IT IS UNCLEAR AT THIS TIME WHERE THE
SNOW LEVEL WILL BE LOCATED. EARLY INDICATORS SUGGEST SOMEWHERE
BETWEEN 7500 TO 8500 FEET WITH SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
ABOVE THIS LEVEL. SNOWFALL MAY EXCEED 12 INCHES OVER THE MOUNTAIN
PASSES DURING THE STORM DURATION.

FOR THE LOWER ELEVATIONS...RAIN IS LIKELY FOR THE VALLEYS OF
SOUTHWEST COLORADO ON FRIDAY. RAIN AMOUNTS MAY RANGE FROM A
QUARTER TO THREE QUARTERS OF AN INCH NEAR THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SAN

MAY HAVE A MIXTURE OF RAIN AND SNOW.

BE AWARE OF WINTER WEATHER RETURNING THIS WEEKEND OVER THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS. HEAVY WET SNOW COULD FALL
