  THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAVY RAINFALL STRETCHING FROM THE NORTH END OF
  SILVER CITY...TO HANOVER...AND IRON CREEK CAMPGROUND. OVER A HALF
  INCH OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN SOME PLACES IN THE PAST HALF HOUR.

RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO
OCCUR...ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND NEAR LOW WATER CROSSINGS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO
CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.

* AT 146 PM MST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATED THAT A
CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUES TO OCCUR ON THE
WESTERN FLANK OF THE CHIRICAHUA MOUNTAINS AND ALONG STATE ROUTE 186
FROM THE CHIRICAHUA NATIONAL MONUMENT TOWARD WILLCOX. RADAR RAINFALL
ESTIMATES INDICATE AMOUNTS OF GENERALLY A HALF TO ONE INCH...WITH
ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF NEAR 1.5 INCHES. MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO BE
CAUTIOUS IF TRAVELING IN THIS AREA SINCE YOU MAY ENCOUNTER
SIGNIFICANT WATER FLOWING THROUGH SOME OF THE NUMEROUS DIPS IN THE
ROADWAY. THE SHOWERS AND STORMS ARE DRIFTING SLOWLY TO THE WEST.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS IN
WASHES AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER ON COUNTRY ROADS AND
FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

* AT 828 AM MST...HEAVY RAINS FROM OVERNIGHT OCCURRED JUST TO THE
EAST OF THE CLIFTON AREA. ESTIMATES OF OVER TWO AND A HALF INCHES
WERE INDICATED BY RADAR. AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES IN THE AREA DID
INDICATE AMOUNTS SLIGHTLY OVER TWO INCHES. THIS MORNING AT 645 AM
MST...THE FLOW ON THE GILA RIVER SOUTH OF THE CLIFTON AREA INDICATED
A STAGE OF 17.1 FEET WITH A FLOW OF NEARLY 11,000 CFS. THIS WATER
WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE ITS WAY DOWN THE GILA RIVER AND REACH THE
SAFFORD AND PIMA AREAS LATER THIS AFTERNOON OR EARLY THIS EVENING.
THE FORECAST FOR THE GILA RIVER AT SOLOMON IS FOR IT TO RISE TO
SLIGHTLY ABOVE BANKFULL WHICH MAY IMPACT THE APPROACHES TO THE
BRIDGES. MOTORISTS ARE THEREFORE ADVISED TO BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DRIVING
IN THIS AREA.

A PACIFIC WEATHER SYSTEM WILL DRAW MOISTURE NORTHWARD ACROSS ARIZONA
FOR A RETURN OF SHOWER/THUNDERSTORM CHANCES FRIDAY INTO
SUNDAY...MAINLY EAST OF THE LOWER COLORADO RIVER VALLEY. THE STRONGER
STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF NOT ONLY VERY STRONG WINDS AND LOCALLY HEAVY
RAIN BUT HAIL AS WELL.
