HOLMES OH-
1047 PM EDT FRI AUG 22 2014

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR EASTERN HOLMES COUNTY UNTIL
1230 AM EDT...

AT 1041 PM EDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED THAT
FLOODING WAS REPORTED AROUND DARK IN THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF
HOLMES COUNTY SOUTHEAST OF FARMERSTOWN AND NEAR WALNUT CREEK. ONE TO
LOCALLY TWO INCHES OF RAIN FELL IN THAT AREA THIS EVENING. EVEN
THOUGH THE HEAVY RAIN HAS ENDED THE GROUND IS SATURATED FROM RAIN
THE PREVIOUS FEW DAYS SO THIS MEANS THAT THE HIGH WATER IN
STREAMS...CREEKS AND ON ROADS WILL ONLY SLOWLY RECEDE DURING THE
NIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF DRIVING...SLOW DOWN! BE ALERT FOR LOW
SPOTS...DIPS...AND UNDERPASSES WHICH MAY BE FLOODED. PEOPLE IN LOW
LYING AREAS ALONG CREEKS AND STREAMS SHOULD MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND TO
ESCAPE RISING WATER LEVELS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS
SAFELY. TURN AROUND...DON`T DROWN!
