Sequoyah County Tornado Damage - 4/5/05
This tornado was confirmed in western Sequoyah county. The tornado touched down just south of I-40, 5 miles west-southwest of Sallisaw at about 7:08 pm and lifted about 3 miles northwest of Sallisaw at about 7:16 pm. The tornado was rated F1 and the path was 150 yards wide and 2.5 miles long. Numerous large trees were snapped and uprooted in its path. Four power poles were also snapped. Straight line wind damage, likely associated with the storms rear flank downdraft, was noted from just north of Robert S. Kerr Reservoir northeastward through Sallisaw. Numerous trees were uproot or snapped in the damage path, minor structural damage occurred to buildings, and a number of barns or storage facilities sustained major damage.
