June 20, 2007 Crawford County Tornado
A brief tornado occurred 06/20/07 at 1135 AM, 3 miles southwest of Figure Five in Crawford County. The tornado formed along the leading edge of an accelerating bow echo that moved rapidly north through the County producing sporadic wind damage.

The tornado was rated EF1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with a path width of 250 yards and path length of around one half mile.

The following images show the radar data from the Forth Smith (KSRX) WSR-88D around the time of the tornado, including the tornado track and pictures of the damage.

Click here - Four panel GIF animation of the 0.5 KSRX reflectivity and 0.5, 0.9 and 1.3 storm relative velocity around the time of the tornado. (1.5MB)

Click here - GIF animation from the 0.5 KSRX storm relative velocity product around the time of the tornado. (1.21MB)

A three dimensional storm relative velocity image (below) from the KSRX radar shows the low level mesocyclone near the time of the tornado. The lowest (0.5 deg) elevation slice from the KINX (Inola, OK) WSR-88D is superimposed over the image. The KINX radar beam overshoots the strongest portion of the relatively shallow mesocyclone due to the radar's distance from the circulation.
