About Hail Thunderstorm Winds  Legend (Click for Impacts) None No hail or convective wind gusts. Slight No hail; Wind gusts up to 38 mph. Moderate Hail, up to dime size (< 0.75 inches); Wind gusts 39-57 mph. High Large hail, penny to ping pong ball size (0.75 inches to 1.5 inches); Wind gusts 58-73 mph. Extreme Very large hail, golf ball size or larger (1.75 inches or greater); wind gusts ≥ 74 mph.
