Locating Yearly Data

Unofficial* yearly data is available through our web site for a few sites in West Central and Southwest Florida.  These include Tampa International, Lakeland Linder, St. Petersburg - Albert Whitted, Sarasota-Bradenton International, and Fort Myers - Page Field. To locate this information follow the steps below.

  1. Go to our Climate Page. (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/tbw/html/tbw/TampaBayClimatePage.htm)
  2. Click anywhere on the map with the Primary Sites (yellow squares) displayed.  This will take you to the Primary Sites Climate Page with many drop down menus.
  3. Yearly data can be found within the fifth choice on the page labeled “Climate Scorecards”.  Choose a site from the drop down menu and click the "GO" button.
* Unofficial data is not certified and cannot be used for a court case.
Only NCDC can certify weather information.  See the instructions in the next section below to get to the NCDC data.


Official, certified yearly data is available for Tampa International, Fort Myers - Page Field, and for the Cooperative Observer Program (COOP) Sites through the National Climatic Data Center for a small fee.  There is no yearly data available for the other Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) Sites.  To locate the available data online follow the steps below.

Tampa or Fort Myers

  1. Go to our Climate Page. (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/tbw/html/tbw/TampaBayClimatePage.htm)
  2. Click on the "ASOS Sites" link to the right of the map.  This will change the map and display all the ASOS sites available in West Central and Southwest Florida.
  3. Click on a site identifier, KTPA for Tampa or KFMY for Fort Myers on the map.  This will cause a small box to pop up on the screen.
  4. Click on the "Historical Data*" button.  This will take you to the National Climatic Data Center web site for the ASOS site you've chosen.
  5. On the NCDC web site for the site you've chosen, click on "DATA" in the top right part of the screen.  This will take you down the page to a list of products available online.
  6. Click on the product labeled "Hourly/Daily Data, Local Climatological Data (Edited)" or "Annual Climatological Summary".
  7. Select the year(s) you want by adding them to the shopping cart and then proceed through the checkout.
Note: The "Hourly/Daily Data, Local Climatological Data (Edited)" data is not available until two to three months after the year is complete. The "Annual Climatological Summary" data may not be complete for a few months longer.

COOP Sites

  1. Go to our Climate Page. (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/tbw/html/tbw/TampaBayClimatePage.htm)
  2. Click on one the "COOP Sites" links to the right of the map.  This will change the map and display the COOP sites available in West Central and Southwest Florida.
  3. Click on a site name on the map.  This will cause a small box to pop up on the screen.
  4. Click on the "Historical Data*" button.  This will take you to the National Climatic Data Center web site for the COOP site you've chosen.
  5. On the NCDC web site for the COOP site you've chosen, click on "DATA" in the top right part of the screen.  This will take you down the page to a list of products available online.
  6. Click on the product labeled "Annual Climatological Summary".
  7. Select the year(s) you want by adding them to the shopping cart and then proceed through the checkout.
Note: The yearly data for the COOP Sites is usually not available until a few months after the year is completed.
