TALLAHASSEE AND WAS MUCH WETTER THAN NORMAL...

THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST IN TALLAHASSEE WAS 84.2
DEGREES...2.1 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL AND TIED 1999 FOR THE SECOND
HOTTEST AUGUST ON RECORD. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE DURING THE MONTH
WAS 98 DEGREES ON THE 22ND AND THE LOWEST WAS 74 ON THE 4TH...5TH...
22ND AND 28TH. IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT WE OBSERVED THE
MONTHLY MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE ON THE 22ND. THERE WERE 25
DAYS WHERE THE MAX TEMPERATURE REACHED 90 DEGREES OR HIGHER WHICH
WAS 2 ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE ON THE 12TH WAS 83
DEGREES AND THIS ENDED A STRING OF 23 CONSECUTIVE DAYS WHERE THE
AVERAGE DAILY TEMPERATURE WAS 85 DEGREES OR HIGHER. THIS BROKE THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 12 CONSECUTIVE DAYS FROM JUNE 28TH TO JULY 9TH IN
1931. THERE WERE NO OTHER TEMPERATURE RECORDS TIED OR BROKEN DURING
THE MONTH.

THUNDERSTORMS AT THE AIRPORT WHICH WAS 1 ABOVE NORMAL. THE PEAK WIND
GUST WAS 49 MPH FROM THE NORTHEAST ON THE 4TH.

THE OUTLOOK FOR SEPTEMBER FROM THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER CALLS
FOR EQUAL CHANCES FOR BELOW...NORMAL OR ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES
AND AN ENHANCED CHANCE FOR ABOVE NORMAL RAINFALL. THE AVERAGE
MONTHLY TEMPERATURE FOR SEPTEMBER IS 78.9 DEGREES AND NORMAL
RAINFALL IS 7.03 INCHES.
