...DAMAGE SURVEYS CONDUCTED TODAY BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN
TALLAHASSEE FOLLOWING THE WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER EVENT EARLY
TUESDAY MORNING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TALLAHASSEE CONDUCTED DAMAGE SURVEYS
FOLLOWING THE WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER EVENT EARLY TUESDAY MORNING
ACROSS THE TALLAHASSEE SERVICE AREA. EXAMINATION OF DAMAGE AND
SURVEYS INDICATE THAT NO TORNADOES CAN BE CONFIRMED IN THE
TALLAHASSEE FORECAST AREA. DAMAGE IN ALL SUSPECTED TORNADO AREAS WAS
DETERMINED TO BE STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE.

TWO PARTICULAR AREAS WERE SURVEYED IN NORTH LEON COUNTY AND
NORTHEASTERN GRADY COUNTY. BOTH AREAS FEATURED DAMAGE CONSISTENT
WITH STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. IN THESE AREAS...MAXIMUM WINDS WERE
ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND 70 MPH...ESPECIALLY IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE
STORM IN NORTHEASTERN GRADY COUNTY.

AROUND OUR REGION...40 OF THE 48 COUNTIES SERVED BY THIS OFFICE
REPORTED STORM DAMAGE...EITHER IN THE FORM OF LARGE TREES DOWN OR
DAMAGE TO STRUCTURES. ADDITIONAL REPORTS ARE POSSIBLE...FURTHER
INCREASING THIS COUNT.

IN SUMMARY...NO TORNADOES HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED WITHIN THE TALLAHASSEE
SERVICE AREA. 68 SEPARATE REPORTS OF SEVERE ACTIVITY WERE
RECEIVED...EITHER DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS OR HAIL IN EXCESS OF
1 INCH IN DIAMETER...OCCURRING OVER 40 DIFFERENT COUNTIES.
