The average monthly temperature for December recorded at the Tallahassee Regional Airport was 56.8 degrees, or 3.6 degrees above normal. The highest temperature recorded during the month was 80 degrees on the 6th and 17th. The lowest temperature was 26 degrees on the 22nd and was one of 6 days with freezing or sub-freezing temperatures which is 4 less than what we normally experience in December. There were no temperature records tied or broken during the month. Rainfall at the Tallahassee Regional Airport for December measured 3.27 inches, or 0.63 inches below normal. There were 7 days with measurable rainfall during the month which was 1 below normal. The greatest amount in a 24-hour period was 0.89 inches on the 11th through the 12th. Although December saw below normal rainfall, it was just enough to avoid another year with below normal rainfall. Tallahassee`s annual rainfall for 2012 was 59.31 inches which was only 0.08 inches above normal. There were 2 days with thunder reported at the airport which was normal.
