...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT TALLAHASSEE FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE 
DAY AND SEVENTH DAY THIS MONTH...

THE MERCURY REACHED THE CENTURY MARK FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE DAY 
ON MONDAY AND SEVENTH DAY THIS MONTH. THIS IS A NEW AUGUST RECORD 
FOR 100 DEGREE DAYS. WE HAVE ALSO BROKEN DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE 
RECORDS ON SEVEN DAYS THIS MONTH...INCLUDING THE PAST THREE DAYS. 
THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF THE DAYS THAT THE TALLAHASSEE AIRPORT 
REACHED AT LEAST 100 DEGREES...OR BROKE OR TIED A DAILY RECORD HIGH 
TEMPERATURE. NOTE MOST RECORDS THAT HAVE FALLEN DATE BACK TO THE 
1930S.

FOR THE SUMMER SEASON AS A WHOLE...THE TALLAHASSEE AIRPORT HAS NOW 
REACHED 100 DEGREES OR BETTER ON 14 DAYS. THIS IS SECOND ONLY TO THE 
SUMMER OF 1998 WHEN THERE WERE 16 SUCH OCCURRENCES. AUGUST 2011 AND 
THE SUMMER AS A WHOLE ARE BOTH IN THE RUNNING TO BE THE HOTTEST ON 
RECORD DEPENDING ON TEMPERATURES OVER THE FINAL TWO DAYS ON THE 
MONTH. LAST SUMMER (2010) TIED 1998 AS THE HOTTEST SUMMER ON RECORD. 
THE HOTTEST AUGUST ON RECORD WAS IN 2007. 

THE MONTH AND SUMMER AS A WHOLE ARE ALSO ON TRACK TO BE THE DRIEST 
ON RECORD. A FINAL SUMMARY OF AUGUST AND SUMMER RECORDS WILL BE 
COMPILED IN EARLY SEPTEMBER.
