(May 2, 2011) - More than 1,200 hundred aerial images of the April 27 tornado outbreak are now available. The images were recorded over the weekend during a King Air flight coordinated by NOAA's National Ocean Service/Office of Marine Aviation Operations. Taken at an altitude of 5,000 feet, the images cover 345 square miles in Alabama.

The National Weather Service Southern Region has also created a track map based on the latest information from damage survey teams collecting data in the affected states. Since the teams have yet to complete the extensive survey assessments, new data are still being collected. The map will be updated as new information is reported.
