National Weather Service Spaceflight Meteorology Group ASA Tammi Barreras was honored by NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC). She received the prestigious JSAT Star award for leadership on occupational safety issues and for support for the JSC Safety Action Team (JSAT). JSAT is an employee-based organization that promotes safety awareness for NASA/JSC employees.
The award stated,
"Tammi Barreras has provided outstanding safety awareness and implementation contributions to the Spaceflight Meteorology Group weather office, as well as long-term extra-mile administrative and logistical support to JSAT."
As the office Safety program leader, Barreras ensures that the Spaceflight Meteorology Group meets NOAA and NASA safety requirements. In addition, she has served as a JSAT officer and participates actively in JSAT outreach activities promoting safety awareness among JSC employees.
