The National Weather Service Fort Worth Weather Forecast Office and West Gulf River Forecast Center conducted a Partners Expo and Open House at their co-located facility in Fort Worth. Approximately 200 emergency managers, spotter liaisons, response and recovery agency officials, and congressional support staff members attended the event.
The visitors received briefings on weather forecast and river forecast operations and recent service enhancements. The staff provided office tours, demonstrated weather and water forecasting technology; and, examined the ways teamwork and partnerships support the severe weather warning system.
Each visitor received a packet containing information on the weather forecast office and river forecast center web sites, forecast and warning services; and, a compact disc with electronic copies of National Weather Service hazardous weather awareness brochures.
Response to the Expo was unanimously positive. "Beneficial" and "educational" were among the terms used by partners who attended. The next Partners Expo in Fort Worth is being planned for late 2010 or early 2011.
