(Nov.6-8, 2008) - Texas science teachers poured into the Fort Worth Convention Center this week for the Lone Star State's annual Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching (CAST) and National Weather Service employees were on hand to help greet them.
Staffers from Southern Region Headquarters and the weather forecast office in Fort Worth manned a booth at the CAST 2008 exhibit hall. They answered questions and provided a wide range of informational material, displays and videos featuring National Weather Service forecasting products and services, severe weather hazards and safety tips.
In addition to the National Weather Service and other government agencies, hundreds of companies doing business in the science education field use the conferences as an essential part of their marketing efforts. With nearly 400 booths and an estimated 5,000 delegates, the annual CAST events are widely considered to be the biggest and best science teacher conferences in the United States.
Universally enthusiastic about new ideas and methods to help them reach their students, the thousands of visiting teachers are approximately evenly divided among primary, middle and high school levels.
