(Oct. 31, 2006) -- The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office (WFO) in Lubbock traveled to Jayton, Texas to participate in the 2006 Kent County Halloween Health and Safety Fair. The event was sponsored by the Texas Cooperative Extension in Kent County, along with the local Fire Department and Emergency Medical Service unit.

WFO Lubbock Forecaster Gary Skwira, Meteorologist Intern Jeff Vitale and Warning Coordination Meteorologist Brian LaMarre manned an information booth and interacted with students (K through 12), parents, teachers and senior citizens. The staff provided severe weather awareness and preparedness information, weather safety tips - and goodies for the young Trick or Treat crowd. Approximately half of the exhibits nearly 500 visitors were children.
