Lubbock Weather Forecast Office Reaches Out to Area Students

(Oct. 11, 2006) -- The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Lubbock participated in the 2006 South Plains Tech Prep Career Expo at the Lubbock Civic Center. The office was one of more than 150 exhibitors from across the region.
Senior Forecaster Jody James, Meteorologist Intern Felecia Bowser and Warning Coordination Meteorologist Brian LaMarre discussed career opportunities in the National Weather Service with students from 52 high schools across West Texas. More than 3,500 students attended the event to learn about the wide range of careers available to them; and, to network with exhibitors from area businesses and agencies.
Participating agencies represented a variety of disciplines including: Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Arts and Communications; Education; Engineering and Industrial; Business, Marketing, and Computer Technology; and, Health Services.
