(Oct. 25, 2005) -- WFO Midland/Odessa sponsored an Aviation Services and Spotlight Cookout for members of the aviation community. In attendance were representatives from Lockheed Martin, Southwest Airlines, Continental Express Jet, Midland Airport Operations, the Marfa Aerostat site and the regional Liaison Officer for Region 4A of the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Arriving guests were greeted by members of the WFO Midland staff. Following an office tour, Science and Operations Officer Jeff Cupo, Senior Forecaster Doug Cain (aviation focal point) and Forecaster Cody Lindsey provided presentations discussing WFO Midland aviation services and WSR-88D Doppler radar capabilities.

The event concluded with a 30 minute roundtable discussion providing an opportunity for aviation guests to provide feedback on ways to improve local aviation services. The event was extremely well received directly led to some changes in the way Airport Weather Warning information will be communicated to the WFO Midland customers in the future.
