Notes: When altocumulus occurs together with altostratus or nimbostratus, it is generally considered and M7 cloud. The clouds may occur as a single or a multiple layer, showing partly the characteristics of altocumulus and partly those of altostratus or nimbostratus. It is also considered an M7 cloud if altocumulus is in two or more layers, or thick altocumulus in a single layer. None of these clouds are progressively invading the sky.
