POLICY REFERENCES SPECIAL MARINE WARNING

PRODUCT: Special Marine Warning (SMW)

REFERENCE: WSOM Chapter D-51, Section 9.4

ISSUED BY: All Warning Offices with Marine Responsibility

PURPOSE: The SMW is a short-fuse product designed to provide information regarding hazardous weather events over the water.

CHANGES: none

COMMENTS: An SMW should be issued instead of a TOR or SVR for event that only occurs over the water. Also note the criteria for issuing an SMW is less than that of an SVR.
