FLOOD STATEMENT |
REFERENCE: WSOM Chapter E-42, Section 5.3
ISSUED BY: Offices with HSA Responsibility
PURPOSE: The FLS is a notification used to provide updated and expanded information regarding an ongoing river flood. The FLS may also be used instead of a flood warning (FLW) for those cases where flooding is imminent or occurring but poses no threat to life or property.
CHANGES: Consult the latest guidance from SRH HSB for a listing of offices who have HSA responsibility and an outline of their areas of concern.
COMMENTS: The FLS should be issued to provide updated and/or revised information regarding the observed stage or forecast crest. FLSs should be prepared and disseminated at periodic intervals until the river of concern has dropped below flood stage. A FLS should not be used to extend or change the area of a flood warning. A new FLW should be used for this purpose.
