James has lived in Pinson all of his life, and taken weather observations for more than half of that! Mr. Price's interest in weather began at a young age. James applied to the meteorological school at Vanderbilt University while attending Jefferson County High School (now Tarrant High School), but ended up choosing the Pharmacy school at Howard College (now Samford University). James owned and operated Price's Drug Store in Pinson until his retirement in 1985.
James has two hobbies: serving his community and weather. Mr. Price has been very active in the Pinson Methodist Church, having served in almost every capacity, in addition to attending Sunday School for 37 years straight, without missing a Sunday! James is a charter member and past president of his Civitan Club, member and past president of the Jefferson County Jury Commission, in addition to having served on the Samford University Planning board; Jefferson County Planning and Zoning board; and the Medical Center East Hospital Long Range Planning Board.
