Record High Temperature Set for February 25

 

At 3:05 PM AST February 25th, 2010 the temperature soared to 93 degrees at the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan. This broke the previous record of 92 degrees set back in 1983. With a record warm minimum temperature of 76 degrees on the morning of the 25th, the average temperature for the day was an astounding 84.5 degrees, 8 degrees above the 30 year normal for the date. In addition, this marked only the 6th time that the temperature ever reached 93 degrees or greater during the winter months in San Juan (December-February), with the last time being February 11th, 1992.
Since January 1st, 2010, this marks the 5th record high maximum temperature and the 7th record high minimum temperature recorded at the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan. In fact, the average temperature of nearly 80 degrees this February is similar to what would normally be recorded during the months of May or November.
