Saint Thomas Records Wettest October on Record
Thanks to
record rainfall that accumulated with the tail of moisture feeding into
Hurricane Otto, 2010 was the wettest October on record at the
Cyril E. King Airport on Saint Thomas. The 16.20 inches of rainfall that accumulated over the month also represented the 3
rd wettest month on record at the
Cyril E. King airport in Charlotte Amalie since record keeping began in 1953. While the 16.20 inches of rainfall was impressive, at
Redhook Bay (also on Saint Thomas), an astounding 21.52 inches of rain fell over the one week period ending October 8
th and a similar 21.51 inches of rain fell at
Jajome Alto located in the eastern interior of Puerto Rico over the same time period. A recap of the climate statistics across both Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands for the month of October can be found in the
October climate report.
