Monthly Summary
July 2012 began with a vigorous tropical wave that affected the local islands on July 4th and left rainfall accumulations of between 2 and 4 inches, as well as gusty winds. After the aforementioned tropical wave, a generally fair and mainly dry weather pattern prevailed with limited afternoon convection focused mostly across western Puerto Rico each day. During the last week of the month, another active tropical wave affected the local islands and left rainfall accumulation between 1 and 2 inches island wide with higher accumulations of up to 5 inches in the Patillas and Ponce areas along the Southern Slopes.
