Day of Appreciation for...

PUERTO RICO WEATHER EMERGENCY NET

On December 6th, 2008, the National Weather Service sponsored another “Day of Appreciation” for members of the Puerto Rico Weather and Emergency NET. This group is sponsored by the Puerto Rico Amateur Radio League. We were very pleased with the turnout of approximately 35 volunteers for this function. With the addition of a few family members and volunteers from our staff, we had almost 45 people in attendance.

The Appreciation Day consisted of videos and presentations in our conference room and tours of the facility. Breakfast and a mid-morning snack were served to all attendees. The main event was the Awards Ceremony where Rafael Mojica (Warning and Coordination Meteorologist) presented Certificates of Recognition and Appreciation to all of the volunteers.

Special thanks go out to many staff members of the San Juan Forecast Office who made this day a success. The volunteers felt welcome and appreciated and that is our ultimate goal since it builds a positive relationship between the office and the people who help support our efforts for public safety.
