...STATEMENT TO DISPEL RUMORS OF TSUNAMI ALONG THE COASTS OF PUERTO 
RICO AND THE U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS...
THERE HAS BEEN NO TSUNAMI ALERT ISSUED FOR PUERTO RICO OR THE U.S. VIRGIN 
ISLANDS. 
NUMEROUS REPORTS OF CHANGES IN SEA LEVEL HAVE BEEN RECEIVED DURING 
THE LAST 24 HOURS AS WELL AS REPORTS OF A TSUNAMI. THE SEISMIC 
NETWORK HAS REVIEWED THE SEISMIC DATA AND TIDE GAGES FOR THE PAST 48 
HOURS...AND HAS FOUND NO LOCAL OR REGIONAL SEISMIC EVENT THAT WOULD 
PRODUCE A TSUNAMI IN THE REGION. THEREFORE...THE PUERTO RICO SEISMIC 
NETWORK HAS RULED OUT THE OCCURRENCE OF A TSUNAMI.
ACCORDING TO THE TIDE GAGES LOCATED IN PUERTO RICO AND THE U.S. 
VIRGIN ISLANDS...IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT SEA LEVEL HAS REMAINED 
BETWEEN .23 FEET TO 1.11 FEET OVER THE VALUES FORECAST BY THE MODELS.
REPEATING...THERE HAS BEEN NO TSUNAMI ALERT ISSUED FOR PUERTO RICO OR THE 
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS.
