West Central Texas was impacted by wintry weather over the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Two snowfall events affected western and northern parts of the forecast area. The first event took Thanksgiving Day with snow falling over parts of the Big Country. The heaviest snow fell over Nolan and Fisher Counties with 6 1/2 inches in Sweetwater and 3 to 4 inches in Fisher County. Anywhere from 2 to 4 inches fell over Callahan, Jones, and Taylor Counties with less than 1/2 inch in Haskell County.
The next storm took aim at West Central Texas beginning Saturday Night and continued into Sunday. As an upper level storm moved into the area...rain fell across most of the area. As cold air aloft moved into the area with the upper level system, the rain eventually began transitioning to sleet and finally to snow over the western Concho Valley, Northern Edwards Plateau, and the Big Country from Saturday night through Sunday evening.
