JULY 2011 WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS...

VERY HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS PREVAILED ACROSS WEST CENTRAL TEXAS
DURING JULY...WITH ONLY SPOTTY RAINFALL. AN UPPER LEVEL HIGH
PRESSURE SYSTEM WAS THE DOMINANT WEATHER INFLUENCE ACROSS TEXAS
AND THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. THIS HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM OCCASIONALLY
EXPANDED EAST ACROSS THE SOUTHERN STATES AND NORTHEAST INTO THE
MIDWEST...BUT REMAINED IN CLOSE ENOUGH PROXIMITY TO INHIBIT
SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT. THIS HELPED TO PERPETUATE
THE HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE REGION.
