New NOAA Weather Radio Service for Extreme Northeast Texas

New NOAA Weather Radion located near Broken Bow Oklahoma.

This new NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) is located near Marietta, TX. This radio will primarily serve extreme northeast Texas including the counties of Bowie, Cass, Marion and Morris. It will broadcast on a frequency of 162.525 MHz with the call sign of WNG-653.

Reception of the broadcasts requires a receiver capable of receiving FM signals in the 162 to 163 MHz range. Most stores which sell radios or consumer electronic equipment, carry NWR receivers. A feature of the NWR is a warning alarm system which will let listeners know when severe weather Watches and Warnings are issued for their area.

NOAA Weather Radio receivers are generally of two types - one in which the receiver's warning alarm sounds for all watches and warnings issued for all four counties covered by this transmitter, and a more sophisticated model in which the user can specifically program which counties they wish to be alerted for.
