This new NOAA Weather
Radio (NWR) is located near El Dorado, AR. This radio will
primarily serve Union county Arkansas, and surrounding counties
and parishes. It will broadcast on a frequency of 162.525
MHz with the call sign of WNG-725.
Reception of the broadcasts requires a receiver capable
of receiving FM signals in the 162 to 163 MHz range. Most
stores which sell radios or consumer electronic equipment,
carry NWR receivers. A feature of the NWR is a warning alarm
system which will let listeners know when severe weather
Watches and Warnings are issued for their area.
NOAA Weather Radio receivers are generally of two types
- one in which the receiver's warning alarm sounds for all
watches and warnings issued for Union and surrounding counties
and parishes and a more sophisticated model in which the
user can specifically program which counties or parishes
they wish to be alerted for. |
