NORTHERN AND CENTRAL VIRGINIA...AND CENTRAL AND WESTERN MARYLAND
WITH THE EXCEPTION OF GARRETT COUNTY.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT FOR
CENTRAL MARYLAND AS WELL AS THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA. A
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN UNTIL 7 PM THIS EVENING FOR THE
CENTRAL SHENANDOAH VALLEY AND CENTRAL VIRGINIA. A WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT FOR THE NORTHERN
SHENANDOAH VALLEY AND EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA PANHANDLE. THE MAIN
IMPACT WILL BE FREEZING RAIN...AND MOST OF THE FREEZING RAIN IS
EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING. SEE WBCWSWLWX FOR

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE TUESDAY. PRECIPITATION
WILL CHANGE TO RAIN TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THERE IS
POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY RAIN THAT WOULD COMBINE WITH SNOWMELT TO CAUSE
A THREAT FOR LOCALIZED FLOODING.

EVENING...

* LOCATIONS...PORTIONS OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL VIRGINIA...THE
  POTOMAC HIGHLANDS AND THE CENTRAL SHENANDOAH VALLEY.

* HAZARD TYPES...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN.

* ACCUMULATIONS...A COATING OF SNOW AND SLEET. ICE ACCUMULATION
  AROUND ONE TENTH OF AN INCH.

* TIMING...SLEET WILL CHANGE TO ALL FREEZING RAIN BY NOON. THE
  MOST ICE ACCRETION FROM FREEZING RAIN IS EXPECTED THIS
  AFTERNOON. PRECIPITATION WILL END BY THIS EVENING.

* IMPACTS...ROADS WILL BE SNOW AND ICE COVERED INTO TONIGHT.
  TRAVELLING WILL BE DANGEROUS DURING THIS TIME.

* WINDS...SOUTH AROUND 5 TO 10 MPH WITH GUSTS AROUND 15 TO 20
  MPH ALONG THE RIDGES ABOVE 2000 FEET.

* TEMPERATURES...RISING INTO THE LOWER AND MIDDLE 30S THIS
  AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN IN THE LOWER AND MIDDLE 30S
  TONIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SLEET AND FREEZING
RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY
ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
