THIS AFTERNOON.

THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS FOR GULF FACING BEACHES THROUGH
THIS EVENING.

HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 105 TO 109 ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON FOR
MUCH OF THE COASTAL PLAINS AND EASTERN BRUSH COUNTRY.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

THERE WILL BE CHANCES FOR THUNDERSTORMS DAILY...WITH THE HIGHEST
CHANCE BEING TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL MAY
ACCOMPANY ANY OF THE SLOWER MOVING STORMS.

INCREASING SWELLS WITH HIGHER PERIODS WILL IMPACT THE BEACHES OF
THE MIDDLE TEXAS COAST TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. THIS WILL LEAD TO A
HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS FOR THE GULF FACING BEACHES BOTH DAYS.

  THAT IS DANGEROUS FOR SWIMMERS...ESPECIALLY AROUND JETTIES AND PIERS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS.

RIP CURRENTS ARE POWERFUL CHANNELS OF WATER FLOWING QUICKLY AWAY
FROM SHORE...WHICH OCCUR MOST OFTEN AT LOW SPOTS OR BREAKS IN THE
SANDBAR AND IN THE VICINITY OF STRUCTURES SUCH AS GROINS...
JETTIES AND PIERS. HEED THE ADVICE OF LIFEGUARDS AND THE BEACH
PATROL. PAY ATTENTION TO FLAGS AND POSTED SIGNS.

IF YOU BECOME CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...DO NOT PANIC. REMAIN CALM
AND BEGIN TO SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE. ONCE YOU ARE AWAY FROM THE
FORCE OF THE RIP CURRENT...BEGIN TO SWIM BACK TO THE BEACH. DO
NOT ATTEMPT TO SWIM DIRECTLY AGAINST A RIP CURRENT. EVEN A STRONG
SWIMMER CAN BECOME EXHAUSTED QUICKLY.

KINGSVILLE TO VICTORIA. RESIDENTS WITH OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES PLANNED
ARE URGED TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER...WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LIGHT
COLORED CLOTHING...AND TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS FROM THE HEAT. YOUNG
CHILDREN AND PETS SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN VEHICLES
UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE DURING WARM OR
HOT WEATHER WHEN CAR INTERIORS CAN REACH LETHAL TEMPERATURES IN A
MATTER OF MINUTES.
