ARKANSAS...SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS...NORTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA...
NORTHWEST LOUISIANA...SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA...EAST TEXAS AND
NORTHEAST TEXAS.

.DAY ONE...THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...

TEMPERATURES FORECAST TO RANGE FROM THE MID 90S TO AROUND 100
DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON. WHEN COMBINED WITH THE HUMIDITY...HEAT
INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM 105 TO 110 DEGREES. THUS...A HEAT
ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF THE REGION TODAY. THOSE
THAT MUST BE OUTSIDE THIS AFTERNOON SHOULD DRINK PLENTY OF
WATER...WEAR LIGHTWEIGHT LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING...AND TAKE
FREQUENT BREAKS SPENDING TIME IN THE SHADE OR IN AIR CONDITIONED
FACILITIES WHEN POSSIBLE. BE SURE TO CHECK ON THE ELDERLY AND
PETS...AND SEE THAT THEY STAY HYDRATED AND ARE ABLE TO STAY COOL.

ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON...ESPECIALLY ACROSS NORTH LOUISIANA AND
SOUTHCENTRAL ARKANSAS. LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS AND BRIEF HEAVY
RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE STRONGER STORMS...BEFORE THEY
DIMINISH THIS EVENING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE IN COVERAGE SUNDAY
OVER SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS AND NORTH LOUISIANA WITH TEMPERATURES
CLIMBING INTO THE UPPER 90S AND HEAT INDEX VALUES NEAR 105
DEGREES. SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT ALL OF
THE REGION MONDAY AS THE UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE CONTINUES TO
DRIFT WEST INTO EAST TEXAS...RESULTING IN BENEFICIAL RAIN AND
COOLER TEMPERATURES. LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS AND BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL
WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE IN THE STRONGER STORMS SUNDAY AND MONDAY.

* EVENT...AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL MAINTAIN VERY
  HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS OVER THE AREA. TEMPERATURES THIS
  AFTERNOON WILL CLIMB TO THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 100 DEGREES...AND
  WHEN COMBINED WITH THE HUMIDITY...WILL RESULT IN HEAT INDICES
  RANGING FROM 105 TO 110 DEGREES.

* TIMING...THROUGH 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING.

* IMPACT...A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH
  HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT
  RELATED ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. CAUTION IS RECOMMENDED FOR
  THOSE WHO WILL BE OUTDOORS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY...CALL 9 1 1.

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED
ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND
NEIGHBORS.
