...STRONG TO POSSIBLY DAMAGING WINDS POSSIBLE FOR PORTIONS OF THE
ALBUQUERQUE METRO INTO SUNDAY MORNING...WITH STRONG WINDS NEAR
GAPS INTO THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY AND OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF
CENTRAL NEW MEXICO...

.A COLD FRONT PLUNGING INTO THE EASTERN PLAINS THIS EVENING WILL
BE DRAWN WESTWARD BY AN UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM OVER ARIZONA.
THIS WILL HELP INTENSIFY WIND SPEEDS THROUGH GAPS IN THE CENTRAL
MOUNTAIN CHAIN AND INTO THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY. SOME OF THE
STRONGEST PEAK WIND GUSTS ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE EASTERN FOOTHILLS
FROM THE PLACITAS AREA SOUTHWARD THROUGH EASTERN VALENCIA AND
SOCORRO COUNTIES BEFORE MID MORNING SUNDAY.

* LOCATION...THIS INCLUDES THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY CONSISTING
  OF PORTIONS OF THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA...PLACITAS...AND
  EASTERN PORTIONS OF VALENCIA COUNTY.

* WINDS...EAST AT 30 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS REACHING 55 TO 65 MPH.
  THESE STRONGER WINDS ARE EXPECTED ALONG AND EAST OF THE
  INTERSTATE 25 CORRIDOR...WHILE TOWARDS THE WEST MESA WINDS WILL
  RANGE FROM 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 40 MPH.

* TIMING...THE EAST WIND IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BY MIDNIGHT...WITH
  THE STRONGEST GUSTS ALSO POSSIBLE FROM AROUND MIDNIGHT TO MID
  MORNING SUNDAY. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY DECREASE BY LATE SUNDAY
  MORNING ALTHOUGH WILL REMAIN GUSTY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

* VISIBILITY...MAY BE REDUCED BELOW 3 MILES DUE TO BLOWING DUST.

* LOCAL IMPACTS...DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS MAY BE ENCOUNTERED
  ALONG NORTH SOUTH ORIENTED ROADWAYS...SUCH AS TRAMWAY BOULEVARD
  AND INTERSTATE 25. LAWN FURNITURE...TRAMPOLINES AND OTHER LOOSE
  OUTDOOR OBJECTS MAY BE LOFTED OR TOSSED. PROPERTY DAMAGE AND
  DOWNED POWER LINES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE FROM WINDS OF THIS
  STRENGTH.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS DAMAGING WINDS ARE IMMINENT
OR HIGHLY LIKELY. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR

A BACKDOOR COLD FRONT SURGING THROUGH THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN
TONIGHT WILL LIKELY GENERATE VERY STRONG TO PERHAPS DAMAGING EAST
WINDS INTO THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY...STRONGEST BELOW CANYONS
IN THE CENTRAL MOUNTAIN CHAIN. SOME OF THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL
LIKELY IMPACT PORTIONS OF THE ALBUQUERQUE METRO AREA WITH GUSTS
THAT MAY EXCEED 55 OR 60 MPH.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

STRONG EAST WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING ACROSS MUCH
OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN NEW MEXICO. SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS SUNDAY INTO MONDAY.
