INTO WEDNESDAY. THESE SWELLS...COUPLED WITH HIGH TIDES LATER THIS
EVENING AND LATE MORNING ON WEDNESDAY...WILL LEAD TO MINOR OCEAN
OVERWASH AND BEACH EROSION...ESPECIALLY AT THE USUAL VULNERABLE
AREAS OF HIGHWAY 12 ALONG THE OUTER BANKS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY HAS ISSUED
A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST
WEDNESDAY.

* LOCATION...THE USUAL VULNERABLE AREAS ALONG THE OCEAN SIDE OF
  HATTERAS ISLAND WHERE OCEAN OVERWASH AND EROSION FROM LARGE
  SWELLS IS EXPECTED.

* COASTAL FLOODING...OCEAN OVERWASH IS THE MAIN CONCERN AROUND THE
  TIME OF HIGH TIDE LATER THIS EVENING AND AGAIN LATE MORNING ON
  WEDNESDAY. WATER COULD BRIEFLY COVER PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 12 IN
  THE USUAL AREAS SUSCEPTIBLE TO OCEAN OVERWASH FROM LARGE SWELLS.

* TIMING...AROUND HIGH TIDE AT 8 PM TONIGHT AND AGAIN AROUND 9 AM
  ON WEDNESDAY.

* IMPACTS...MINOR OCEAN OVERWASH AND MINOR BEACH EROSION.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.
