...COASTAL FLOOD THREAT TO CONTINUE FOR THE OUTER BANKS THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING...

.LINGERING VERY LARGE SWELLS ASSOCIATED WITH YESTERDAYS LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE OUTER BANKS THROUGH
TUESDAY. THESE SWELLS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE HIGH TIDES THIS
EVENING AND TUESDAY MORNING WILL LEAD TO OCEAN OVERWASH AND BEACH
EROSION ESPECIALLY ALONG HATTERAS ISLAND. PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 12
IN THE USUAL VULNERABLE LOCATIONS COULD BECOME WATER COVERED
AROUND THE TIMES OF HIGH TIDE THIS EVENING AND AGAIN TUESDAY

* LOCATION...THE USUAL VULNERABLE AREAS ALONG THE OCEAN SIDE OF
  HATTERAS ISLAND VULNERABLE TO OCEAN OVERWASH AND EROSION FROM
  LARGE SWELL.

* COASTAL FLOODING...OCEAN OVERWASH IS THE MAIN CONCERN AROUND THE
  TIMES OF HIGH TIDE THIS EVENING AND TUESDAY MORNING. LARGE
  SWELLS IMPACTING THE BEACHES COULD PRODUCE EROSION AND OCEAN
  OVERWASH. WATER COULD BRIEFLY COVER PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 12 IN
  THE USUAL AREAS SUSCEPTIBLE TO OCEAN OVERWASH FROM LARGE
  SWELLS.

* TIMING...THIS EVENING AND AGAIN TUESDAY MORNING AROUND THE TIMES
  OF HIGH TIDE. HIGH TIDE OCCURS AROUND 745 PM THIS EVENING AND 8 AM
  TUESDAY.

* IMPACTS...OCEAN OVERWASH AND BEACH EROSION

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR
IMMINENT. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE ALERT
FOR RISING WATER...AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT LIFE
AND PROPERTY.
