ILLINOIS...SOUTHWEST INDIANA...WESTERN KENTUCKY AND SOUTHEAST
MISSOURI.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING FOR SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHERN
ILLINOIS AND THE PURCHASE AREA OF WEST KENTUCKY REMAINS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 8 PM CDT TONIGHT. A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR
SOUTHWEST INDIANA AND THE PENNYRILE REGION OF WEST KENTUCKY UNTIL
8 PM CDT TONIGHT.

A SMALL CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS IS EXPECTED OVER MAINLY SOUTHEAST
MISSOURI LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND INTO THIS EVENING. ALTHOUGH
SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT ANTICIPATED WITH THESE STORMS...LOCALLY
HEAVY RAIN AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING WILL LIKELY.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY

HEAT INDEX VALUES MAY RANGE FROM 100 TO 105 OUTSIDE OF RAIN AREAS
ON MONDAY.

OTHERWISE...MULTIPLE PERIODS OF THUNDERSTORMS ARE FORECAST FROM
MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. HEAVY RAINFALL AND LIGHTNING WILL BE THE
PRIMARY CONCERNS...ALTHOUGH A FEW STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS CANNOT

EVENING...

THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING...ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE IN PADUCAH KENTUCKY...WILL CONTINUE UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS
SUNDAY EVENING FOR ALL OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI...SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
AND THE PURCHASE AREA OF WEST KENTUCKY.

* THE COMBINATION OF HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE MIDDLE 90S WILL
  COMBINE WITH OPPRESSIVE HUMIDITY TO PRODUCE HEAT INDICES FROM
  105 TO 110 DEGREES.

* THE IMPACT OF A HEAT INDEX OF 105 DEGREES OR HIGHER IS
  CONSIDERED THE LEVEL AT WHICH THE BODY BECOMES MORE SUSCEPTIBLE
  TO HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING MEANS THAT A PROLONGED PERIOD OF
DANGEROUSLY HOT TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR. THE COMBINATION OF HOT
TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A DANGEROUS
SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE LIKELY. DRINK PLENTY OF
FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...
AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY...CALL 9 1 1.
