THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF EASTERN AND
CENTRAL MISSOURI AS WELL AS WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE ST. LOUIS
METROPOLITAN AREA. TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S AND HIGH
HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL LEAD TO HEAT INDICES BETWEEN 105 AND 110 THIS
AFTERNOON AND EARLY THIS EVENING.

ELSEWHERE, TEMPERATURES IN THE 90S WILL COMBINE WITH HIGH HUMIDITY
LEVELS TO PRODUCE HEAT INDEX VALUES UP TO 105 DEGREES.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE EARLY THIS MORNING OVER NORTHEAST
MISSOURI AND WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS. THEN THERE IS A CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS OVER PORTIONS OF SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS THIS AFTERNOON.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

THE HEAT WAVE WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MONDAY. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT
WARNING AND A HEAT ADVISORY REMAIN IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY
EVENING.

THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE FROM TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

* TIMING...DANGEROUS LEVELS OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL CONTINUE
  THROUGH THE WEEKEND.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...100 TO 107 DURING EACH AFTERNOON.

* IMPACTS...THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH
  HUMIDITY WILL LIKELY LEAD TO AN INCREASED RISK OF HEAT-
  RELATED STRESS AND ILLNESS. THE VERY YOUNG... THE ELDERLY...
  THOSE WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING...AND THOSE PARTICIPATING IN
  STRENUOUS OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL BE THE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE.
  ALSO...CAR INTERIORS CAN REACH LETHAL TEMPERATURES IN A MATTER
  OF MINUTES. BEAT THE HEAT... CHECK THE BACKSEAT! NEVER LEAVE
  CHILDREN OR PETS UNATTENDED IN A VEHICLE...NOT EVEN FOR A
  MINUTE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO THE EARLY MORNING
OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND
HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY. CALL 9-1-1 IMMEDIATELY.
