THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL
LOUISIANA...SOUTH CENTRAL LOUISIANA...SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA...WEST
CENTRAL LOUISIANA...EAST CENTRAL TEXAS AND SOUTHEAST TEXAS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED. HEAT INDEX VALUES ARE
EXPECTED TO BE HIGHEST MAINLY NEAR URBAN AREAS WHERE TEMPERATURES
TEND TO RUN A LITTLE WARMER...AND VALUES COULD BRIEFLY APPROACH
110 DEGREES. OTHERWISE...MOST AREAS SHOULD EXPERIENCE HEAT INDEX
VALUES BETWEEN 103 AND 108 DEGREES. INDIVIDUALS SHOULD REMAIN
ALERT TO POSSIBLE SIGNS OF HEAT STRESS DURING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
AND TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO REDUCE OVERHEATING.

A FEW ISOLATED AFTERNOON SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE
POSSIBLE MAINLY EAST OF THE SABINE RIVER TODAY. SOME STORMS WILL
BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING AND
GUSTY WINDS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE END OF THE
WEEK...WITH AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX READINGS WILL BE BETWEEN 103 AND
108 DEGREES. SLIGHTLY DRIER AIR INTRUDING FROM THE NORTH IS
EXPECTED TO BRING SOME RELIEF FROM THE HUMIDITY OVER THE WEEKEND.

SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY WILL BECOME MORE SCATTERED
THURSDAY AND FRIDAY AS HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT SHIFTS TO THE WEST AND
A WEAK FRONT MOVES INTO THE AREA. THE MAIN HAZARDS WILL BE
FREQUENT LIGHTNING...GUSTY WINDS...AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL.

.ANOTHER HOT HUMID DAY IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE REGION. HIGH
TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB TO THE UPPER 90S TO AROUND 100 DEGREES BY
THIS AFTERNOON. WHEN COMBINED WITH RELATIVE HUMIDITIES BETWEEN 40 AND
50 PERCENT...A SIGNIFICANT PART OF THE AREA WILL SEE APPARENT
TEMPERATURES...OR HEAT INDEX VALUES...CLIMB TO 109 DEGREES OR
HIGHER.

ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM CDT THIS
EVENING.

* TEMPERATURE...IN THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 100 OUTSIDE OF SHOWERS
  AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES OF 109 TO 112.

* IMPACTS...DANGEROUS HEAT RELATED STRESS AND FATIGUE CAN OCCUR
  TO THOSE WORKING OR EXERCISING OUTDOORS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT
STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING...DRINK
PLENTY OF WATER AND TAKE FREQUENT BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR
CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS.

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED
ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND
NEIGHBORS.
