SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA.

PLEASE LISTEN TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR GO TO WEATHER.GOV ON THE
INTERNET FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE FOLLOWING HAZARDS.

   HEAT ADVISORY.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS...SCATTERED TO POSSIBLY NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS
ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ALONG A SOUTHWARD MOVING COLD FRONT ACROSS
SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING. AT LEAST A FEW OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS COULD BECOME
SEVERE...WITH THE PRIMARY HAZARD BEING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. SMALL
HAIL AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING ARE ALSO LIKELY. THE MOST LIKELY TIME
FOR ANY SEVERE WEATHER IS BETWEEN 2 PM AND 7 PM.

CONTINUE TO MONITOR NOAA WEATHER RADIO ALL HAZARDS...TV OR OR YOUR
LOCAL NEWS SOURCE FOR THE LATEST WEATHER INFORMATION FROM THE

* LOCATIONS...ALL SOUTHEAST GEORGIA COUNTIES AND SOUTH OF LINE
  FROM EDISTO BEACH TO ALLENDALE IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA.

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...106 TO 109 DEGREES DUE TO TEMPERATURES IN
  THE MID AND UPPER 90S...AND DEWPOINTS IN THE LOWER AND MIDDLE
  70S.

* IMPACTS...HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HUMIDITY COULD LEAD TO HEAT
  ILLNESSES IF PROPER PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IF YOU MUST BE OUTDOORS...DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...WEAR LIGHT
WEIGHT CLOTHING AND STAY OUT OF DIRECT SUNSHINE. IN ADDITION...
KNOW THE SIGNS OF HEAT ILLNESSES AND BE SURE TO CHECK ON THOSE
WHO ARE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE HEAT SUCH AS YOUNG CHILDREN AND
THE ELDERLY. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN AND PETS IN A VEHICLE...
ESPECIALLY WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP SINCE TEMPERATURES CAN BE
MUCH HIGHER INSIDE THE VEHICLE.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK...THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS
IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY
HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE
IS AN EMERGENCY - CALL 9 1 1.
