EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EASTERN UTAH AND WESTERN
COLORADO.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

PERIODS OF SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE OVER THE
MOUNTAINS OF NORTHEAST UTAH AND WESTERN COLORADO THROUGH THIS
EVENING. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ABOVE 8000 FEET WHERE
WINDS WILL GUST TO OVER 60 MPH CREATING WIDESPREAD BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW AND REDUCING VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN 1/4 MILE.
TOTAL SNOWFALL FOR THE MOUNTAINS WILL RANGE FROM 1 TO 2 FEET BY
TONIGHT WITH UP TO A FOOT ACROSS THE HIGHER VALLEYS. THIS STORM
MOVES OUT LATE TONIGHT WITH SNOW ENDING FROM WEST TO EAST. PLEASE

...DANGEROUS CONDITIONS IN THE HIGH COUNTRY TODAY...

.STRONG WINDS THIS MORNING WILL INCREASE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON
HOURS AS MOUNTAIN WIND GUSTS EXCEED 75 MPH. WIDESPREAD BLOWING
AND DRIFTING SNOW AND DOWNED TREES WILL MAKE TRAVEL EXTREMELY
HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

* TIMING...PERIODS OF SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL CONTINUE
  THROUGH THIS EVENING. THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED TO FALL
  THIS MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATION...18 TO 24 INCHES.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 25 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 65 MPH.

* IMPACTS...ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL RESULT IN ICY AND SNOW PACKED
  ROADS AND HIGHWAYS ESPECIALLY OVER MOUNTAIN SUMMITS. THE
  COMBINATION OF SNOW...BLOWING SNOW AND FOG WILL LIMIT
  VISIBILITY BELOW 1 MILE WITH NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE
EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS AND BLOWING SNOW ARE ALSO

MOUNTAINS...GORE RANGE...FRONT RANGE...TENMILE RANGE...SAWATCH RANGE
AND NORTH SAN JUAN

THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER HAS ISSUED AN AVALANCHE
WATCH FOR THE NORTH AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO. A STRONG
WINTER STORM WILL IMPACT THE AREA FROM SUNDAY INTO MONDAY. AVALANCHE
DANGER WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY AS SNOW ACCUMULATES AND DRIFTS.
BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE CONDITIONS COULD BECOME VERY DANGEROUS BY
SUNDAY AFTERNOON. TRAVEL IN OR BELOW AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT
RECOMMENDED.
