THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN EUREKA HAS ISSUED A COASTAL FLOOD
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO NOON PST
TODAY.

* WAVES AND SURF...BREAKING WAVES 22 TO 25 FEET ALONG WEST AND
  NORTHWEST FACING BEACHES WILL SLOWLY DIMINISH TO 16 TO 21 FEET
  BY LATE AFTERNOON.

* TIMING...THE LARGE SURF WILL SLOWLY DIMINISH THROUGH THE DAY.

* IMPACTS...LARGE BREAKING WAVES ALONG THE COAST WILL LEAD TO
  INCREASED WAVE RUN-UP ON BEACHES WITH WAVES TOPPING AND WASHING
  OVER LARGE ROCKS AND JETTIES. THESE LARGE WAVES CAN BE ERRATIC
  AND UNPREDICTABLE. USE EXTRA CAUTION NEAR THE SURF ZONE AS THESE
  LARGE WAVES WILL BE CAPABLE OF SWEEPING PEOPLE INTO THE FRIGID
  AND TURBULENT OCEAN WATERS.

.COASTAL FLOOD....

* COASTAL FLOODING...HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES WILL CAUSE MINOR
  FLOODING IN LOW LYING AREAS ALONG THE REDWOOD COAST. THE WATER
  LEVEL IS EXPECTED TO PEAK AROUND 9 FEET ABOVE MLLW AT THE NORTH
  SPIT TIDE GAUGE IN HUMBOLDT BAY AND NEARLY 1 FOOT ABOVE
  ASTRONOMICAL TIDES OUTSIDE THE BAY.

* TIMING...HIGH TIDE IS AT 9:43 AM AT THE HUMBOLDT BAY NORTH SPIT
  TIDE GAUGE AND UP TO AN HOUR EARLIER OUTSIDE THE BAY. FLOODING
  MAY BEGIN AN HOUR BEFORE AND CONTINUE FOR AN HOUR OR TWO AFTER
  HIGH TIDE.

* IMPACTS...LOW LYING AREAS AROUND HUMBOLDT BAY WILL EXPERIENCE
  MINOR FLOODING INCLUDING...BUT NOT LIMITED TO...ROADWAYS IN KING
  SALMON AND THE ARCATA BOTTOMS.

  IN ADDITION HIGH SURF AND STRONG WINDS WILL PUSH WATER MUCH
  HIGHER UP THE EXPOSED BEACHES. THIS MAY IMPACT EXPOSED AREAS OF
  HIGHWAY 101.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH
EROSION.

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT.
A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT.

HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED TODAY...ESPECIALLY IN DEL NORTE COUNTY.
THIS MAY CAUSE LOCAL PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS AND ROCKSLIDES
ARE POSSIBLE IN STEEP TERRAIN.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS CURRENTLY IN EFFECT.

HIGH SURF IS EXPECTED THROUGH SATURDAY. BREAKER HEIGHTS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE 20 TO 25 FEET.

HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES ARE EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
PERSISTENT SOUTHERLY WINDS ARE KEEPING TIDES 0.5 TO 1 FT ABOVE
PREDICTED LEVELS. THIS WILL LIKELY CAUSE MINOR SALT WATER FLOODING
OF LOW LYING AREAS ON THE NORTHWEST CA COAST. IN ADDITION, LARGE
SURF COINCIDING WITH THE HIGH TIDE WILL ALLOW WAVES TO PUSH MUCH
FARTHER UP BEACHES AND POTENTIALLY IMPACT AREAS THAT TYPICALLY
REMAIN DRY.
