Clear Air Mode Volumn Coverage Pattern 31/32 (VCP 31, VCP 32)
Most sensitive operational mode, values in red represent the different elevation angles in this VCP. This table shows the approximate height and width of the radar beam with distance from the radar site. The radar will complete one volume scan (five elevation scans) every 10 minutes.
A typical radar image when the radar is in clear air mode. Due to the sensitivity of the radar you will often see larges areas of yellow, red and occasionally purple colors surround the radar.
