FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR WEST TEXAS/SOUTHEASTERN NEW MEXICO
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIDLAND/ODESSA TX
203 PM CDT WED APR 16 2014

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM MDT THURSDAY FOR THE
GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS FOR DRY...WINDY CONDITIONS WITH HIGH FIRE
DANGER...

.DISCUSSION...

THE RED FLAG WARNING WILL CONTINUE IN EFFECT IN THE GUADALUPE
MOUNTAINS, BUT HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 3 AM MDT THURSDAY DUE TO 20
FOOT WINDS STAYING ABOVE 20 MPH SUSTAINED AND RH/S STAYING BELOW 15
PERCENT. A FEW LOCATIONS COULD NEAR CRITICAL LEVELS ACROSS THE
PERMIAN BASIN LATE THIS AFTERNOON, BUT THE DURATION DOES NOT APPEAR
TO BE LONG ENOUGH FOR A RFW. RECOVERY WILL BE POOR ALONG AND WEST
OF A MALJAMAR TO BIG BEND LINE, AND GOOD TO THE EAST. A COLD FRONT
WILL MOVE SOUTH THROUGH THE AREA THURSDAY, WITH PORTIONS OF BREWSTER
AND PRESIDIO COUNTIES SEEING NEAR CRITICAL CONDITIONS. RH/S WILL
LIKELY STAY ABOVE 15 PERCENT THURSDAY AFTERNOON OVER THE REST OF THE
AREA.

&&

FOR POINT-SPECIFIC FORECASTS PLEASE SEE THE POINT FIRE WEATHER MATRIX
PRODUCT ISSUED BY THE MIDLAND/ODESSA NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE.
