...SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED IN THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS ABOVE 2500 FEET TODAY...

.A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM ALOFT WILL DROP SOUTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE
SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN REGION TODAY. MUCH COLDER AIR WILL MOVE INTO
THE REGION WITH THIS SYSTEM. BRISK NORTHWEST WINDS AND VERY COLD
TEMPERATURES ALOFT WILL ENHANCE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ABOVE 2500
FEET...ESPECIALLY ON NORTHWEST FACING SLOPES. THE SNOW SHOWERS ARE
EXPECTED TO SLOWLY DIMINISH BY THIS EVENING.

* EVENT...SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN 6 T0 12 INCHES ARE
  EXPECTED FOR MOST LOCATIONS ABOVE 2500 FEET. LOCALLY HIGHER
  AMOUNTS UP TO 18 INCHES OR MORE WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE
  HIGHEST PEAKS ABOVE 5000 FEET. ELEVATIONS BELOW 2500 FEET
  SHOULD RECEIVE BETWEEN 2 AND 4 INCHES.

* TIMING...SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TODAY ACROSS HIGHER
  ELEVATIONS.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL IS EXPECTED TO BECOME HAZARDOUS ON ROADS
  ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA AND EAST
  TENNESSEE. DOWNED TREES WILL BE POSSIBLE DUE TO THE SNOW
  ACCUMULATING ON FOLIAGE STILL LEFT ON MANY TREES. TRAVEL IS
  DISCOURAGED.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW
ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. IN ADDITION...
SNOWFALL INTENSITIES WILL BE HEAVY ENOUGH TO SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE
VISIBILITIES AT TIMES. TRAVEL IS DISCOURAGED. IF TRAVEL IS
UNAVOIDABLE...KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD...AND WATER IN YOUR
