URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...COLD WIND CHILLS CONTINUE FOR NORTHERN MINNESOTA THIS MORNING...

...LAKE EFFECT SNOW OVER NORTHWEST WISCONSIN THROUGH MIDDAY...

.A COMBINATION OF ARCTIC HIGH PRESSURE MOVING INTO THE AREA AND
LIGHT NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL RESULT IN VERY COLD WIND
CHILLS THIS MORNING. CONDITIONS WILL IMPROVE BY MID TO LATE
MORNING. MEANWHILE...ON THE SOUTH SHORE OF LAKE SUPERIOR...LAKE
EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS WILL PERSIST THROUGH NOON TODAY. SOME
LOCATIONS WILL SEE BETWEEN 3 AND 6 INCHES OF ACCUMULATION. THE
HIGHEST AMOUNTS COULD BE AROUND AND JUST SOUTH OF SUPERIOR
WISCONSIN.

* LOCATIONS...NORTHWEST WISCONSIN ADJACENT TO LAKE SUPERIOR
  BETWEEN THE CITY OF SUPERIOR AND ODANAH. THIS INCLUDES PORT
  WING... HIGHWAY 2 BETWEEN SUPERIOR AND ASHLAND... HIGHWAY 53
  SOUTHEAST OF SUPERIOR...AND HIGHWAY 13 ON THE BAYFIELD
  PENINSULA.

* TIMING...THROUGH THIS MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES IS EXPECTED IN
  THE HEAVIER SNOW BANDS...WITH TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS AS HIGH AS 3 TO
  6 INCHES.

* VISIBILITIES...AS LOW AS A HALF MILE AT TIMES IN THE HEAVIER
  SNOW SHOWERS.

* IMPACTS...ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW PACKED AND SLIPPERY...WITH
  LOCALLY HAZARDOUS WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY MEANS LAKE EFFECT SNOW IS FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT IN SOME AREAS. LAKE EFFECT SNOW
SHOWERS TYPICALLY ALIGN THEMSELVES IN BANDS AND WILL LIKELY BE
INTENSE ENOUGH TO DROP SEVERAL INCHES IN LOCALIZED AREAS. USE
CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR
DESTINATION.

  THESE CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND WINDS WILL
COMBINE TO GENERATE VERY COLD WIND CHILLS. THIS MAY RESULT IN
HYPOTHERMIA AND POSSIBLY FROST BITE...IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT
TAKEN. IF YOU VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE COVER AS MUCH EXPOSED
SKIN AS POSSIBLE TO NEGATE THE EFFECTS OF THE WIND.
