...STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS INTO LATE THIS AFTERNOON...

PERIODIC SURGES IN NORTHWEST WINDS MAY RESULT IN GUSTS TO OVER 50
MPH AT TIMES ESPECIALLY ALONG THE EASTERN SLOPES OF THE BLUE
RIDGE AND IN SPOTS ACROSS THE FOOTHILLS THROUGH 5 PM. THESE WINDS
MAY BE ENOUGH TO TOPPLE TREES AND CAUSE ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. IN
ADDITION...HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES MAY HAVE DIFFICULTY IN DRIVING
ESPECIALLY WHERE CROSSWINDS OCCUR. THE WINDS SHOULD START TO
DIMINISH AFTER SUNSET.
