...1-2 PUNCH OF WEATHER SYSTEMS ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL ALASKA THIS
WEEKEND...

A WEATHER FRONT IS CURRENTLY CROSSING THE ALASKA RANGE AND MOVING
INTO COOK INLET. CLOUDS WILL BE ON THE INCREASE AND RAIN SHOWERS
WILL DEVELOP AT MOST LOCATIONS AROUND COOK INLET AND THE MAT-SU
VALLEY BY SATURDAY MORNING. FAIRLY WEAK SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL
BECOME MORE GUSTY OUT OF THE NORTHWEST AS THE FRONT PASSES THROUGH
THE AREA SATURDAY AFTERNOON. A SECOND AND MUCH FASTER-MOVING
SYSTEM WILL FOLLOW CLOSELY ON THE HEELS OF THE FRONT...AND PASS
THROUGH THE AREA SATURDAY NIGHT. WHILE THIS WEATHER FEATURE WILL
AGAIN INCREASE CLOUDS AND RAIN SHOWER COVERAGE ACROSS THE
AREA...THE BIGGER IMPACT WILL BE AS THE STORM RACES OUT INTO THE
GULF ON SUNDAY. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL BECOME SIGNIFICANTLY GUSTIER
ON SUNDAY ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA AS DRY AIR SURGES IN BEHIND THE
DEPARTING STORM. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE IN LOWER COOK INLET
AND AROUND KODIAK ISLAND...HOWEVER LOCATIONS FURTHER NORTH SUCH AS
SEWARD AND WHITTIER AND INTO PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND WILL STILL SEE
STRONGER WINDS THAN TYPICAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. RECREATIONAL
BOATERS AND OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD PLAN ACCORDINGLY WHEN
MAKING WEEKEND PLANS.
