...LONG DURATION SNOW EVENT CONTINUES...

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES FOR SNOW REMAIN IN EFFECT FROM THE
WESTERN KENAI PENINSULA TO ANCHORAGE AND THE MAT-SU THROUGH AT
LEAST SATURDAY MORNING. A LOOK AT RADAR IMAGERY THIS MORNING SHOWS
THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS FALLING FROM THE WESTERN KENAI RIGHT ALONG
THE INLET UP TO THE WESTERN MATANUSKA VALLEY AND MOST OF THE
SUSITNA VALLEY. REPORTS FROM KENAI TO BIG LAKE TO WILLOW TO
TALKEETNA INDICATE APPROXIMATELY 3 TO 5 INCHES HAVE FALLEN THROUGH
THIS CORRIDOR...WITH HEAVIEST AMOUNTS IN THE SOUTHERN SUSITNA
VALLEY.

AREAS FARTHER EAST...INCLUDING MOST OF ANCHORAGE ON UP TO PALMER
AND WASILLA ARE OBSERVING LIGHTER SNOW AND HAVE RECEIVED LESS
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION THUS FAR. THIS WILL CHANGE LATER THIS
AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING AS THE BAND OF HEAVIER SNOW SHIFTS
EASTWARD. THESE AREAS WILL LIKELY SEE THE HEAVIEST SNOW TONIGHT
THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.
